Happy National Library Week

How will YOU be celebrating National Library Week?  If you enjoy the resources your Library has to offer your community, consider helping out as a volunteer!

We are gearing up for our upcoming summer and fall events, and we NEED YOU to make them successful!

Are you able to help with one event per year?  Would you rather help out at the Library during the week?  Do you enjoy working with children?  Like to cook?

WE NEED YOU!

Please let us know if you are willing to help out as a volunteer this year.  We are updating our volunteer database, and we need to hear from you!  Even if you have helped in the past, we would like to make sure you are still interested – do let us know.

There is no committent required – we will contact you as needs arise, and you have decide if it will fit into your schedule.  That’s it.  It’s not high-pressure.  It IS fun.

Here is how you can let us know you are willing to help:

We would love to get your email address as a primary source of communication, if possible.  It makes things much easier to be able to reach our entire database in one email rather than dozens of phone calls!

Our upcoming events include children’s games at the Yellowstone Trail Social on June 19 and a food stand at Hammond Heartland Days in August.  We also have many summer programs coming up, and we can always use extra help getting ready for them!

Thanks in advance for considering what you can do to make your Library an even better place to visit.  We appreciate you all!

Cooking & Crafts – For Kids!

Starting Thursday, January 21, for children ages 3 and older at 4:00 PM we will be creating a healthy and quick snack that your child can prepare and then delving into some pretty neat crafts.

Some of the crafts we will be doing are making a fleece blanket and using wool as a fabric to create a unique craft. We will also paint, glue, and color various projects. Check out the library website for more information.

This program will continue each Thursday until February 25.  Come back to the blog after your children attend, and let us know what they thought by leaving a comment!

Storytime Fun!

Storytime at the Hammond Library is never dull – you just never know what will happen!  This week, our wee visitors were surprised by a visit from some local goats, and their owner, Carol Bodish.  The kids (both the human ones and the goats) had so much fun!  Carol explained about the goats’ hair, horns, what they eat and more.  Be sure to join us next time for a Thanksgiving celebration!  Thanks to Carol for wrangling her goats into the library – that’s not something we see everyday!
