Have you submitted your decadent dessert recipe for the Cupcake Buffet & Dessert Auction on Feb 13, 2011?
We will be auctioning the Desserts to the highest bidder during our LIVE auction! Proceeds will benefit the Library.
Prizes will also be awarded for the fanciest desserts.
If you wish to donate a dessert, please contact Michelle at the Library: 715-796-2281 or mjohnson@hammondpubliclibrary.org to let her know. We also ask for a copy of the recipe; they will be reproduced so those attending the event can create their very own recipe books!
Then, be sure to come down to the auction to buy something sweet for your sweetie! Invite a friend; admission is free.

Please join us for the first Friends of the Library meeting of 2011! We will meet next Monday, January 10 at 6:00 pm at the Hammond Library. On the agenda for this meeting:
* Choosing a new meeting night/time
* Election of new officers
* Fundraising schedule for 2011: we have new ideas, and we need your help!
* Update on new building progress
Bring your calendars so we can schedule help for the next several fundraising activities. Invite a friend to join you – we need everyone to get on board with us!

Attention: The Friends of the Library are preparing for their annual Holiday Gift Sale, and we are in need of wide-mouth pint sized canning jars and lids. If you have any collecting dust that you would like to donate to the Library, please post a comment here or drop them by the Library by Wed, Oct 27. Thanks so much!

Join the Friends of the Library on Saturday, October 2, from 8 am to noon for their Annual Costume Shop! You can shop for an inexpensive Halloween costume for you or your kids, and all money raised will be used to benefit your Library.
This year, we will also have movies for sale (VHS) and Christmas items and decor – be sure to stop in to get your holidays started!
We are also taking donations of new or gently-used costumes, accessories, masks and other items all year. Drop your donations off at the front desk of the Library during regular business hours.

As a part of the new and improved Friends of the Library group, we are now offering a Corporate Sponsorship option. For an investment of $75, a company will receive all the benefits of being a Friend of the Library, such as a tote bag, gift certificate to the book sale, book donated to the Library in the company’s name and more. As an added benefit, the library will post their company logo and website link on the Library website! Sponsorships run for one year, and are renewable each October. For more information, and a sponsorship form, please visit the front desk at the library. We hope to have the form available on the library website soon, as well.
The Friends are also looking for local businesses who may wish to offer an incentive to our members. As a benefit of membership, we are looking for businesses who wish to offer a discount, buy one/get one offer, gift certificate or other perk exclusive to Friends members. We hope this will be a way to boost our local businesses, as well as increase our membership and reward our fantastic volunteers! Please fill out the form at the front desk of the library, if you wish to participate, and return it with 25 certificates for the offer of your choice. Thanks again for making our Library such a vibrant place in our community!

Please join us for our next Friends of the Library meeting on Monday, October 12, at 6:30 at the Hammond Library. This is an excellent time to join our group, if you have been considering doing so! We will be discussing all our events for 2010 – dates, what events we are going to host, fundraising goals and more. We need your feedback, ideas and talents, so please plan to be with us.
If you cannot make the meeting, don’t hesitate to contact us with your thoughts. We are happy to have you as a Friend, if only for one event per year. If we spread the work among many Friends, it hardly seems like work. Our events are really fun to “work” and the community truly enjoys being a part of them. Join us in October to offer your ideas for the upcoming year!

On July 16 & 17, the Friends Group held our first Christmas in July Garage Sale at the Hammond Library. By all accounts, it was a success! Thanks to all who donated items for the sale; we had an amazing array of items for shoppers to select from. All proceeds will benefit your local library! Because of the positive comments we received, and the success of the sale, we are planning on doing this event again next year. Your donations of new or gently used Christmas items are welcome throughout the year. Just drop them by the library during regular business hours. Thanks again to the Friends Group for their time spent sorting, pricing, setting up the sale, and boxing up the remaining items. We’ll see you all next year!

Hi, all! Join us for the next Friends of the Library meeting on Monday, August 10, 6:30 pm at the Hammond Library. On our agenda will be setting a date for the upcoming Scrapbooking Day, finalizing the hours, location and details. This event was a success when we held our first one in February! If you attended that Scrapbooking Day, please feel free to post your comments, good or bad, here. We have the chance to change things up a bit – day of the week, how long the event is, etc, so now is your chance to let your wishes be known. Summer is upon us at the Hammond Library! We have tons of fun things planned for the summer, so be sure to check back often for the very latest information. I refuse to divulge everything here and now! 
What I CAN tell you, is that we have a Family Movie Night planned! Join us on Thursday, June 25, at 6:30 pm at the upper level of the library for a family movie. The movie title will be posted here in the next week or so. Admission is FREE, so bring your blankets and spend a fun evening with friends! This movie night is made possible through your donations. The Friends of the Library has been hosting fundraisers throughout the year, and donated the funds to purchase a movie projector. Thanks to all who have helped with events, donated money or items and to all of you who value your library – you made this event possible!
Mark your calendars for another FREE family event: Family Bingo & Game Night. This event will be held Thursday, July 23, at 6:30 pm at the upper level of the library. Tell your friends!

Hi, all! We have scheduled our next Friends of the Library meeting for Monday, June 8, at 6:30 pm at the back of the Hammond Library. We would love to have you join us!
