Holiday Angels

Once again, the Hammond Library is serving as a drop-off location for the Holiday Angels program.  Bring in your new, unwrapped gift and it will be distributed to local families in need this Christmas. You have until December 9 to bring your gift in!  There is always a need for gifts that appeal to older kids, and books always make great gifts.  Thanks in advance for your support of this program!

Christmas Caroling – Join Us!

Help us spread Holiday Cheer throughout Hammond!  We will meet at the Hammond Library at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, Dec 7, and carol throughout the neighborhood before coming back in to warm up with cocoa and tea at 7:30 pm.

Another caroling date has been scheduled for Friday, December 17 from 5-7 pm.  For that event, please meet at 1335 Hunter Hill Drive in Hammond.

While we sing, we will also collect new or very gently used books to distribute to families in need this holiday season.

Song lyric sheets will be available – you don’t need to be a good singer to come along!  All ages welcome.  Please dress for the weather!

Other ways to donate a book or two:

*  Drop them by the Hammond Library during regular business hours.
*  Bring one when you come to meet Santa on Dec 3 from 6-8 pm at Sandy Brecht Photography.  (Bring a Food Shelf item, too!) (Free photo with Santa provided by Sandy Brecht Photography.)
*  Bring them to FREE Holiday Spirit Yoga at Baldwin Area Medical Center on Wednesday, December 15 at 5:30 PM.
*  Bring them when you come and visit Santa and two of his reindeer at Heritage Court Assisted Living, Wednesday, December 15, 6:00-7:30 PM.  (Free photo with Santa provided by Sandy Brecht Photography.)

Christmas in July a Success!

On July 16 & 17, the Friends Group held our first Christmas in July Garage Sale at the Hammond Library.  By all accounts, it was a success!  Thanks to all who donated items for the sale; we had an amazing array of items for shoppers to select from.  All proceeds will benefit your local library!  Because of the positive comments we received, and the success of the sale, we are planning on doing this event again next year.  Your donations of new or gently used Christmas items are welcome throughout the year.  Just drop them by the library during regular business hours.  Thanks again to the Friends Group for their time spent sorting, pricing, setting up the sale, and boxing up the remaining items.  We’ll see you all next year!

Join Us For Breakfast!

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day – especially when you support your library by eating it!  Join us on Saturday, April 4 from 7:30 am -12 noon for our annual Spring Breakfast event at the Trinity Lutheran Church,  1250 Broadway, in Hammond, WI.  We will be collecting a free will donation for the meal.  We will have the best pancakes, sausage, orange juice, coffee and more!

Also, back by popular demand, is the Friends of the Library gift basket silent auction!  We have several dozen baskets filled with goodies – all donated by local businesses and individuals.  Come and place your bid!  I peeked at the baskets, and you won’t want to miss this.  We have a chocolate spa basket, a rolling cooler full of picnic essentials, health and beauty supplies, scrapbooking supplies, tea, books and more!  The baskets can be viewed at the library during the week of March 30, so you can get a sneek peek prior to placing your bids.

All the money raised during this event goes directly to the purchase of library items and the support library programs and events.  Thanks in advance for your support!  We will see you there -
