TerraCycle Brigade
The Library is also collecting recyclables as a part of the TerraCycle Brigade! Through this program, we collect empty wrappers and containers normally thrown in the trash, and send them in to be made into new products. For example, Capri Sun pouches are made into bags and purses that are offered for sale on the TerraCycle website! For each item we send in, we receive $.02 in funds to be used for library resources and programs. Items can be left in the boxes in the front entry of the library during regular business hours – if you have any questions, please let us know. Thank you for supporting this effort!

Costume Swap Addition
The Friends of the Library has decided to add a new twist to the very popular Costume Swap event in October! This year, besides offering gently used Halloween costumes and accessories at great prices, we would like to offer holiday dresses and outfits! You know the ones – the frilly Easter dress your daughter will only wear once. Or, the baptism outfit your son wore 2 years ago. Or the velvet Christmas dress that needs a new home. We will offer these gently used items at our Costume Swap for a great price. If you have any boys’ or girls’ Christmas, Easter, baptism, First Communion, wedding or other dressy outfits, please donate them to the Library for this event. You can bring them to the front desk at any time. Thanks in advance for your support! As always, the proceeds from this event will benefit the Hammond Library’s programs and resources.

When you are cleaning out your closets or rummage-saling, keep us in mind. Michelle will take your donations at the library front desk at any time. Thanks for your help!

Christmas is Coming?
As you begin your spring cleaning (if spring ever arrives), please keep your local library in mind. The Friends of the Library will be hosting a new event this summer – Christmas in July! We are looking for donations of new or gently used Christmas and holiday decorations. We all have a closet or attic full of ornaments, tinsel, lights and wreaths that we no longer display at holiday time. Bring them to the library at any time; we will be selling them during our Christmas in July sale. Please only donate items in good working condition – including lights! The date for this event will be announced soon. All money raised through this event will be used to purchase library equipment, and to save toward building improvements. Watch this blog for further details!
