Santa is Coming!

Come by and visit with Santa and two of his reindeer at Heritage Court Assisted Living in Hammond on Wednesday, Dec 15 from 6-7:30 pm! Sandy Brecht Photography will be offering free photos with Santa, and everyone is welcome to attend.

Although this is a free event, you are welcome to bring an unwrapped, new gift for the Holiday Angels program, a new or gently-used book for the Hammond Library Book Collection, or an item for the Food Shelf to help spread holiday cheer to others in our community.

Holiday Angels

Once again, the Hammond Library is serving as a drop-off location for the Holiday Angels program.  Bring in your new, unwrapped gift and it will be distributed to local families in need this Christmas. You have until December 9 to bring your gift in!  There is always a need for gifts that appeal to older kids, and books always make great gifts.  Thanks in advance for your support of this program!

Christmas Caroling – Join Us!

Help us spread Holiday Cheer throughout Hammond!  We will meet at the Hammond Library at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, Dec 7, and carol throughout the neighborhood before coming back in to warm up with cocoa and tea at 7:30 pm.

Another caroling date has been scheduled for Friday, December 17 from 5-7 pm.  For that event, please meet at 1335 Hunter Hill Drive in Hammond.

While we sing, we will also collect new or very gently used books to distribute to families in need this holiday season.

Song lyric sheets will be available – you don’t need to be a good singer to come along!  All ages welcome.  Please dress for the weather!

Costume Swap Addition

The Friends of the Library has decided to add a new twist to the very popular Costume Swap event in October!  This year, besides offering gently used Halloween costumes and accessories at great prices, we would like to offer holiday dresses and outfits!  You know the ones – the frilly Easter dress your daughter will only wear once.  Or, the baptism outfit your son wore 2 years ago.  Or the velvet Christmas dress that needs a new home.  We will offer these gently used items at our Costume Swap for a great price.  If you have any boys’ or girls’ Christmas, Easter, baptism, First Communion, wedding or other dressy outfits, please donate them to the Library for this event.  You can bring them to the front desk at any time.  Thanks in advance for your support!  As always, the proceeds from this event will benefit the Hammond Library’s programs and resources.
