Volunteers Needed: Yellowstone Trail Social

We are looking for volunteers who are willing to help us with the Yellowstone Trail Social on Father’s Day, June 19, from 11-4.

The Library will be a part of the community-wide, family event; we plan to have a variety of low-cost children’s games and activities and will be using them as a fundraiser for the Library.

So far, we have the following activities scheduled for the day:

*  Potato Sack races
*  Three-legged races (need 2 volunteers to run the race area)
*  Fishing Game (Need 2 volunteers)
*  Tossing Game (need 2 volunteers)
*  Quilt block sewing activity (need 2 volunteers)
*  Hopscotch
*  Horseshoes (child friendly) (need 2 volunteers)

We chose these games and activities as they fit the historical timeframe of the 1920s & ’30s, when the Yellowstone Trail was popular.

We also need a couple volunteers to run the prize table and to help with cutting fabric (ahead of time) for the quilt squares.

If you have fabric, thread, needles or pins that you would be willing to donate, please contact the Library ASAP.

If you are able to help that day, please respond to this message via Facebook, or email me at gtlarsen@baldwin-telecom.net or Michelle at mjohnson@hammondpubliclibrary.org.  So far, we have 5 committed volunteers!  If you can only help for a couple of hours, that’s great too – no need to spend all day!

Also, if you have a preference as to what station you are working, please specify when you contact us and we will schedule you there.

I would like to have my volunteers in place by April 30; I will be calling a special meeting to take care of the details sometime in late early June.

Thanks so much for your committment to helping your Library and community!
