Night at the Library

Join us for a (not-so) scary good time at the Annual Night at the Library event!

This event is fun for the whole family – enjoy children’s activities and a (mildly) haunted tour of the Library.  This year, you will have a chance to help solve the mystery:  did Marcus Marcus commit foul play in the Library?  You never know what happens at the Library when the lights go out – come and find out for yourself!

Costumes are encouraged, and you are welcome to bring a friend.  The Night at the Library will be held on Saturday, October 23 from 6-8:30 pm.  You are encouraged to bring a donation for the food shelf as your admission fee.

Coat Exchange Program

Sponsored by the Hammond Library and Sandy Brecht Photography, the Coat Exchange program is in its second year.  There are several ways to get involved:

  • If you have fall or winter outerwear that you no longer need, including coats, sweatshirts, hats, mittens, snowpants, boots, scarves or other items, you many donate them to the program by dropping them off at the Library front desk at any time during regular hours.
  • If you have coats or items that you or your children have outgrown, you may exchange those items for something different.
  • If you need warm winter clothing, but have nothing to donate in return, you are still welcome to come in and pick up what you need.  We want everyone to stay warm this winter season!

We are also in need of hangers to display the coats, and these can be dropped at the Library front desk anytime.

The program hours are 10:00 am – 1:00 pm each Saturday beginning August 21 and running through March 26, 2011.  If you have any questions, you may call the Library at 715-796-2281 or Sandy Brecht Photography at 715-796-2112.

It’s Storytime!

Kids, get your parents ready for a whole new year of Storytime fun!  We will begin a new Storytime program on Tuesday, September 14 at 6:30 pm and Wednesday, September 15 at 9:30 and 10:30 am.  The program is the same at each of the three sessions, so choose the one that works best for your schedule.

The Storytime theme this year will focus on countries around the world.  We will be learning a little bit about a different country each week, singing songs, reading stories and creating wonderful art projects.  Children are encouraged to bring an object from home that begins with the letter of the week, or represents the country of the week, to show the group.

You will find the Storytime themes for each week posted on the library’s website.  To get you started, here are the first several weeks:

Sept 14/15:  “A” is for Australia

Sept 21/22:  “B” is for Brazil

Sept 28/29:  “C” is for China

Be sure to join us for this fun program which runs each week until spring.  What the bulletin boards and website for themes and any changes as they come up.  See you soon!
